About Our Founder

Hello fellow pet owners! I’m Vanessa the founder of FC. I’ve always loved cutting clothing with scissors as a kid. The noise it made and the drastic effect it made to my clothes immediately after. I’ve always been obsessed with style, texture and colour. One day years ago, I decided to buy some cheap clippers and go to town on my havanese dog, Billy. When I was done I’d wished I could turn back time because she looked awful. A couple tries later and I’d gotten a bit better, but still not the best. Soon after I signed up for dog grooming school so i could perfect my skills. Now I groom dogs for a living and I wouldn't change it for the world. Never give up on your passions and stay funky!

My favourite part is seeing the owner's reactions to their freshly groomed pup with a fresh new makeover."

How often should I come to get my dog groomed?

Typically, for dogs with fur longer than 1 inch, routine grooms once every 4-6 weeks are ideal. This will prevent mats and tangles which can lead to poor blood circulation and fur getting dirty. It is encouraged that pet owners book their next appointment right after their last groom in order to prevent fur from getting too out of control.

How often should I get my dogs nails trimmed?

Dogs need their nails clipped on a regular basis, once every 3-4 weeks is ideal. It is common for owners to wait too long in between trimmings which can lead to a number of health issues for the dog, as well as potential injury for humans due to nails getting long and sharp.

How does dog hair dye work?

At Funky Clippers we use Opawz Pet Hair Dye Gel, a dog friendly dye that is safe for pets. There are temporary, semi permanent and permanent dyes available. Permanent dye lasts 20 washes, semi-permanent lasts 8 washes and temporary lasts 1-3 washes. We perform a patch test 2-3 days ahead of time to test for allergies before proceeding with styling. Dog hair dye is a great way to add colour and life to your dogs look. Get creative with it!
